ECAD

ECAD, East Cost Assistance Dogs, or, more recently Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities, is a non-profit service dog training school located on the campus of Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry, NY.  ECAD is different from other training schools in that we use at-risk youth in 5 schools around New York State to train the dogs.  The students learn about patience, discipline, training/grooming/dog care skills, and unconditional love.  They participate in all aspects of the training, from the young puppies to teaching clients to work with their service dogs.

ECAD's Project Heal places service dogs with disabled veterans and invites veterans from the community to help with the training and spend time with the dogs every Wednesday.  About 50% of the dogs we place go to civilians with disabilities (including families with children with autism), the other half go to veterans.
